Trojans win thriller over Co-Lin

The Mississippi Delta Community College men's basketball team pulled out a thrilling 75-74 victory over Co-Lin Community College on Monday evening, as Darius Jackson (Plaquemine, La.) hit two free throws with 0.7 seconds left in the ballgame to lead the Trojans to the win and help them improve to 2-2 on the young season.

Jackson was the leading scorer for MDCC against the Wolves, dropping in 21 points to go along with three blocks and two steals. Cartisco Brown (Indianola) also had a big night as well, finishing with 20 points, five assists and two steals.

The win on Monday night was critical for momentum, as MDCC was coming off a tough overtime loss to Southwest Community College just two days earlier, falling 78-73 to the Bears at a neutral site game in Baton Rouge. Brown was the leading scorer for Delta in this one, finishing with 24 points, as well as four rebounds and three steals. Jackson trailed with 18 points and eight rebounds. MDCC defeated CMP Prep, 107-76, a night before to pick up their first win of the season.

The Trojans lifted the lid on the 2019-2020 campaign on Monday, Nov. 4, traveling to Utica to face Hinds Community College and coming away with a heartbreaking 79-78 loss.

Jackson led all scorers with 26 points against Hinds, as well as grabbing six boards. Chavis Banks (Yazoo City) and Anfernee Diggins (Greenville) each had double-doubles, with Banks scoring 11 points and pulling down 13 rebounds and Diggins finishing with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

MDCC will welcome Hinds Community College to Moorhead on Monday, Nov. 18. Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m. at J.T. Hall Coliseum.
