The Lady Trojans secured a strong 63–49 home victory over the Southwest Mississippi Lady Bears on December 4, improving their record to 6–2. MDCC showcased one of its most efficient offensive outings of the season, shooting an impressive 65% from the field while maintaining control of the game through disciplined ball movement and improved decision-making.
E'kemi Johnson led the way with 20 points and 6 rebounds, delivering several crucial shots that helped the Lady Trojans protect and extend their lead. Za'Kensly Yarbor added 17 points and 4 steals, sparking transitions and energizing the defense. X'Zaylah Yarbor contributed 9 points to round out a balanced offensive effort. Defensively, the Lady Trojans made key adjustments to counter Southwest's back-screen sets, relying on communication, switches, and active denial in the passing lanes to slow the Lady Bears' attack.
Head Coach Banks noted, "I think overall we played a solid game. Everyone was communicating and played solid defense that helped win the game."
MDCC will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup on December 9 when they travel to face Coahoma Community College.
